Save the children work was founded on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
We assist children in receiving a better education, allowing more boys and girls to attend school, and assisting youngsters in protecting themselves and influencing their own circumstances. In homes, clinics, and hospitals, we collaborate with families, communities, and health workers to improve basic health and save the lives of children and mothers.

 1st Position: WASH OFFICER

Key Areas of Accountability:
  • At charge of executing WASH Soft and Hard component activities at mobile health clinics and field communities. 
  • Collaborates closely with the H&N team to identify and address major gaps in MHTs. 
  • Attend Hygiene Behavior Change Communication (HBCC) programs and raise awareness. 
  • Assist the project coordinator with the design, implementation, and monitoring of the WASH component within the program/project, taking into account social behavior change theories and methods, as well as COVID-19 prevention and response. 
  • Ensure that the WASH soft component program objectives are implemented and monitored, and manage kit distribution. 
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of the project's soft and hard component activities.
  • Regular technical follow-ups and assessments of field soft component activities.
  • Ensure that the planned hard and soft component activities are completely understood by community members.
  • Work with the WASH coordinator and the H&N coordinator to ensure that project activities adhere to SCI technical criteria.
  • Plan the soft component activities in close collaboration with the project coordinator in order to adhere to the proposal's planning and guarantee that the program does not experience delays or obstacles.
  • Ensure that all field data is delivered on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Team communication and coordination with the project WASH coordinator.
  • Take part in the distribution of dignity kits.

Experience and skills:
  • Good understanding of water, sanitation, and hygiene.
  • Knowledge of behavior change communication and hygiene-related issues is advantageous.
  • Construction experience in the sector of water and sanitation is advantageous.
  • Significant knowledge and familiarity with protection and gender problems. 
  • Basic knowledge of the COVID19 virus.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and reporting abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Positive attitude and good team interaction.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Skype.
  • The ability to communicate in English is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the native language (both written and spoken).

ROLE PURPOSE: 
Under the direction of the Child Protection Coordinator and in coordination with subordinate staff will be responsible for implementing Save the Children’s activities on child protection, to make the delivery of the child rights and child protection in practice. This post holder will be responsible to technically support partner organization(s) child protection staff in the province.

Key Areas of Accountability:
  • Provide support to the community stakeholders such as CBCPN, CG,DCPAN,CPAN, and school based groups includes student council.
  • Conduct trainings for the project and partner staff and build their capacities according to the capacity gaps assessment key findings.
  • Provide technical supervision and support of field staff and (relevant partners) staff through regular contact, field visits or meetings.
  • Monitor the community centres’ activities and efforts, and ensure CBCPNs are supporting the efforts.
  • Regular visit to the assigned field to participate and facilitate CBCPNs monthly meetings and informal meetings..
  • Conduct induction meetings with families, teachers, community, and other stakeholders to establish children group.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience working on child protection or education Projects.
  • Good Oral and Written English Skills.
  • Proven Computer skills in Word, Excel and other MS Office software.
  • Proven Administration skills.
  • Ability to travel within project coverage districts & other provinces as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Experience Training, facilitation, community mobilization, implementation with local partner and child protection Desirable.

 3rd Position: Psychosocial Councilor

ROLE PURPOSE: 
The psychosocial council is a crucial staff member in the project who will be in direct touch with children and their families in the community to help them with their MHPSS and protection issues. The successful candidate will complete a one-year training program that includes three and a half months of intensive psychosocial technical training in Kabul and 8.5 months of on-the-job training and mentoring to equip candidates with the knowledge and skills to provide MHPSS support to targeted children in their intervention communities. The psychosocial councillors will be deployed in Balkh province for the implementation/roll out of project activities based on the project goal after completing the first intense training session, which will last three months at the start of the posting.

Key Areas of Accountability:
  • Attending and completing a one-year MHPSS training program to gain skill and knowledge about MHPSS services, best practices and strategies;
  • The psychosocial councillors need to offer his/her full commitment for the completion of the course and the project.
  • Providing ongoing psychosocial support for vulnerable, at-risk children and adolescents and families through one-on-one and / or group sessions, sometimes in coordination with teachers and or other thematic areas within SC’s programmatic intervention;
  • To assist the child protection officer in developing the questionnaire and field test tools and techniques for o   rapid assessments and training materials/ modules.
  • Raising awareness with children, families and community leader to bring positive changes in the children life and create a protective environment for them, and to reduce stigmatization of mental health through community dialogues and engagement.
  • Identification and reporting of key issues, which affecting war affected and street working children in the city/ province.
  • Work with teachers to build capacity respond to MHPSS needs in the classroom, and to safely identify and refer cases.
  • Weekly base comprehensive reporting to the child protection officer.
  • To attend Community Based Child Protection Network (CBCPN) and DCPAN to discuss child protection concerns, to provide update on MHPSS issues and to share information on positive coping strategies, safe identification and referrals.
  • Utilizing knowledge and resources in efficient manner to input for designing future intervention to improve the lives and access to opportunity of affected children in and around the city/ province.
  • To assist the child protection officer in analysing situation children who are at risk  .
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of all SC Afghanistan resources in order to keep costs low and ensure safety in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduated from Medical university or psychology department.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Recent graduated from psychology, social work or social science faculty.
  • Have some social work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in Pashtu/Dari language.
  • Good in conducting timely meeting.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and MHPSS.
  • Knowledge of working with communities, specifically in engaging communities to identify issues and working with them to implement plan. 
  • Ability to travel to districts and other province when it is required.
  • Committed to the aims and principles of Save the Children, including adherence to the child protection policy.
  • Detail-oriented skills.
  • Knowledge of Computer (Ms. Officer and using internet).
  • Excellent English (Able to write the reports in English).
  • Accuracy with responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of child rights is an advantage.
  • Should be able to work independently and be a strong team member, be patient, adaptable, flexible, to maintain confidentiality, and able to improvise and work in stressful atmosphere and respects Afghan culture.
  • Experience of translating materials from English to Dari and Pashtu.
  • Experience in child participation, MHPSS and community participation.
  • Familiar with other computer program (Ms. Access, Photoshop etc).
